This course will provide a participant with the skills and knowledge required to conduct fire team operations, including fighting, and containing fires within the resources and infrastructure industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in site-based roles in coal mining, metalliferous mining, drilling, extractive, and civil infrastructure environments.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between States, Territories, and industry sections, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying the unit.

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 23 Hours

Participants must have the physical capacity to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:  

  • Truck on fire
  • Small machinery fire in a workshop
  • Small grass fire
  • Locate documents
  • Report & record
  • Audit firefighting installations

Documentation – Completion of a site-based incident reporting form and equipment fault log.

Theory assessment - A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions to be completed at the end of the training session.
